1930

1930 Representative Season

The highlight of the 1930 season was undoubtably the match against our national side at the Oamaru Showgrounds. The New Zealand side played a match against North Otago in preparation for the opening test match against Great Britain in Dunedin. Although not realistically in a position to beat the All Blacks, the spectacle was a great occasion for the area.

A combined Ashburton County-South Canterbury-North Otago Probables versus Possibles match was played on June 12 in Temuka. The matched served as a trial for the combined sides match against the touring British team on June 28 in Timaru. North Otago players selected for the Possibles: L. Ross, T. Trevathan, R. Cameron; Probables: J. Grainger, J. Simpson, S. Wills, A. Clarke. With the following players named in the final selection for the combined side: L. Ross, T. Trevathan, R. Cameron, E. Sim, R. Hollow and S. Wills.
