1927 Representative Season
The 1927 season was marked as the first to feature North Otago as a stand-alone provincial union. This allowed representative rugby matches to be allocated first class status when played against other unions also with full provincial status. From 1904-1927 no match involving North Otago was counted as a first class fixture, due to the sub-union status North Otago had at that time.
1927 also marked the first year an inter-provincial match was played in Waimate when North Otago and South Canterbury met for their third encounter for the season. In all, five matches were played throughout the year resulting in 2 wins, 2 losses and a draw.
D. S. Loder and W. Cameron were both selected for the Otago-Southland-North Otago combined team to play Canterbury-South Canterbury-Ashburton as part of an All Black Trial in Dunedin. Cameron was also futher selected for the South Island Probables side in the South Island Trial match.
